Though you might be gone for quite some time,
and the inevitable had sold it's last line,
I promise you, dear, I'll do whatever I should do.
I promise you, dear, I'll watch the sunset with you.
From the soil in the cemetery you will ascend, dragging you from your
lonesome grave,
there will be not a waste of time, for the pleasure is mine,
and the journey will hopefully end.
And I'll carry your body to that special high hill,
and I'll lay you there with no harm's will.
Even though reality can sometimes hurt,
I'll sit next to you loyally,
as you lay quiet and still.
The sun begins to settle between the royal purple mountains,
as the gray clouds portray as dust,
the capacious ocean clears of its crystal blue,
and grow waves of gold, and lust.
The air is fufilled with the scent of ocean salt,
and the rush of the water's tide,
and as the minutes and seconds mingle pass,
the plush clouds begin to hide.
With your cold head upon my lap,
and your lips stiff and dry,
and my hands resting on your skin,
I don't dare risk the blink of a naked eye,
I dont dare to experience the sin.
The sky smooths out into multicolors,
a velvet pink, a lemon yellow,
a silken red,
my eyes stay locked on the image of it all,
thinking of the words I could've said.
The words that could describe this realistic portrait,
and the moment I shared you,
and how even though you're gone, my heart is still the same,
it is not fake, dissembled, or renewed.
Only on the night of your birthday do I do such a thing,
just for some one I truly love,
I cannot say the same for you,
even if it were true,
it's just something I cannot speak of.
Like small stunning eyes staring out to us both,
the stars begin to fade into sight,
I sigh and return you to your isolated grave,
whispering a grateful prayer for the night.
And even though your cerulean eyes could not witness such a scene,
or the moments we spent so beautifully,
See, I promised you, dear, I'd watch the sunset with you,
and you promised to watch it with me.
