Ah, The Gallows ‘part 1’

They bound me in shackle and chain
They tortured me with agony and pain
A prisoner confined in walls and gate
Left in the filth of former prisoners late
Tonight I dream of the gallows, my death
For tomorrow I will long again for breath
So this evening I look hard at the moon
And pray I that I will be pardoned soon
Alas my destiny is the old wretched rope
For condemned am I, with long lost hope
And with a last look at life, day and sin
I am hanged with the rest of my kin
