Dying in the Rain

You called me an angel
Though you thought yourself a saint.
You hesitated to walk away,
Your head down in shame.
You dared to see what no one else saw,
The beauty of a soul,
The entrancement of a heart.
You walked away from me
And came back with roses.
Together we fell in love with the rain
And saw the beauty in a raven’s eye.

Your parents hated me,
Our love to them was a mystery.
In your heart you hated life,
It was always so run down,
Each moment had a new strife.
Soon you whispered to me:
“Tomorrow we are going to die.”
You took my hand and led me
To the deepest part of the woods.
There you gave me a drink and
Whispered about a greater good.

When they found us the rain was falling
And the poison lay in our unmoving veins.
Together we were in our last moments,
Together we lay dead in the rain.

Note: clueless_not and lostneverfound read this before it was revised and
before I made clear why they died, so please don't think of them as
idiots.
