When we met, she was lost,
I was told there would be a cost;
To change this girl to many seemed
The unattainable, a hopeless dream.

I was in love, so I tried,
I took impossible odds in my stride,
I turned her into the perfect girl;
There were no stains on my pearl.

I did not think, my follie was this:
A perfect girl with a perfect kiss
Will need a perfect boy to have and hold;
This I was not, to me she grew cold.

She did better and it makes me mad,
I made her happy when she was sad,
I made her care and made her sweet,
But with a perfect boy I cannot compete.

All I ask is for one fair act;
What I gave her I want back,
She can move on but I think it should be
That she does it without what she was given by me.
