The Mistake

A baby girl is born on a dark night in August.
Her father is no where to be seen.
Her mother names her the mistake.
The Mistake grows up without ever hearing an "I love you."
Everyday her mother would bring home a new man.
She has to listen to her scream.
The Mistake would see her being slapped, hit, beat, raped.
She decided this is how it's supposed to be.
As she grew older she longed for love.
She wanted it more than anything,
and she found it in the back seat of a car.
It was the only way she felt loved.
Eventually she became "the whore."
The one on the corner of Main St.
The girl no one notices,
and no one cares for.
The mistake wound up one day,
in a corner tied up in some man's home.
She had been raped,
and tortured.
It didn't bother her.
She felt that this is what was right,
and when the gun was put to her head
she grinned at the man,
and said "Thank you for being so kind."
