A Valentines Day Horror

I stood there with eyes, buried in red,
as the one before me lay silent and dead,
the clear rain fell from the metal gray sky,
and behind the clouds, a citrus moon, so shy.

The fog was thick, like wads of white cotton,
the air fulfilled with gloom as the rain clouds blossomed,
the cobblestone streets were empty of life,
only dull illumination shone from the street lights.
A distinctive chill spread throughout my spine,
the one I had experienced when he first became mine.
With one hand to his heart, firmly holding a knife,
he had gone away forever, and died in the moonlight.

Kisses, soft kisses,
for my only one, I notioned,
as I put my head to his chest,
I felt no sure motion.
He was sadly gone forever,
he had run away for good,
like I knew he always fancied,
like he always said he would.

The bright shining stars,
like lustrous eyes of gold,
sprung amongst beds of clouds,
as the air grew cold.
And as I peered down,
to capture a look of his eyes,
laid a red rose under his hand,
the one I received, when he became mine.
