Trembling at the top of the stairs
I realise things I haven't realised for long

My world consists of memories
These memories I treasure
The case with the books
That speak thousands of words
Sentences about forgotten time
A past so far away

The widow that belongs to me
Is standing at the bottom of the stairs
She's waiting, not for me though
Cause I ain't supposed to be here
I just wanted to have a look at her

I miss her so much
Her words, her touch
But the car that robbed her husband
Has robbed my life too

I have to go back now
to places where people forget
but the memories will remain here
Cause if I'd ever forget them
That would be something to regret
