The highway is buzzing with traffic in the steady rain. Every person in
every car has somewhere to go and fast. The highway is slick like it always
is when it rains, but there haven't been any crashes or fender benders yet.
The creek near the road is slowly rising, but it shouldn't overflow onto the
bank.

If you roll down your window and look out at the hillside covering one
side of the highway you can see a steady stream of water flowing down. If
you keep looking there are more and more little streams. Soon the vine of
streams connect. Some people just brush off the thought of disaster and keep
driving. Others will stop their cars and wait to see what happens. Soon
people will look in their rear view mirrors for a suprize. A brown mass that
looks like the fictional character "The Blob" will be right behind them
dragging cars and any debris it can find with it.

After the rain stops and the sun comes out, half of the highway is gone.
That half of the highway looks like a careless constructor dumped loads of
concrete on the random road. There are trees, trucks, even lamp posts
jutting out of the rock hard mass. And if you look closely you might see
arms and legs sticking out too, from the drivers who thought they could
outrun THE MUDSLIDE.
