When you hear a woman scream
And all you do is turn up your tv
Are you better or are you worse?
Then the man who ran a knife across her throat?
Did you mumble did you speak?
Did you realize that you are weak?
Did that voice inside your head say what to do?
Did he say something like this to you:
“Turn up your radio the screams will fade away
Someone else will call the police within a day”
Well no one called the police you fool
She lay there her blood a pool
How is it that she could whither?
When all around her were windows
And within each of them a person stared
And yet not one of them dared
To pick up a phone or run to her aide
Even though she was slowly dying not far away
It took a stranger walking by
When all of you stared from your balconies within the sky
