Short Of Breath

These times they pass, they fade, then gone
Memories outlast the past gone wrong
I can touch the pictures of those years
I can smile and try to hold back tears
But the feelings they fall from empty eyes
On a shirt that has seen better days
Cause this cotton hides a heart that cries
And my faults seem to lead me astray
On a quest to find the perfect life
I’d rather dream than live tonight
Because my reality is becoming fake
Time is short and I’m running late
I’m short of breath and I like the dark
I’ll grit me teeth and except the mark
I tried to be the perfect man
I guess this is it, this is the end
No future for me, but freedom for us
Fruitless words, but these you can trust
I know this shit was never me
But there are no choices that I can see
Could her love have repaid the cost?
On this eve, a life is lost
