The Fight

Katie was lying alone one night
Quietly crying in the dark
Mommy and Daddy were having another fight
Guess they'd lost their spark
She heard glass shatter and then break
And her mother's painful cries
Daddy was yelling out Mommy's mistakes
Telling her a shitload of lies
Daddy slammed mommy hard against the wall
And Katie crept out of bed to her door
Daddy was standing strong and tall
While Mommy looked tired and poor
Daddy slapped Mommy hard across the face
And Katie winced at the sight
Of blood trickling down her mother's lace
Daddy'd drank too much that night
Katie couldn't take it anymore
So she ran to her mother's aid
But Daddy decided to even the score
And he went on a deadly raid
He chased Katie all around
Trying to get her to come
Then Daddy hit his head and fell tot he ground
And Mommy called 9-1-1.
But daddy was dead by the time they came
There was nothing the doctor's could do
Katie stared out the window at the rain
When her mommy told her the news
But Katie just stood there, not a tear was shead
For the man that had made her mother cry
She wasn't upset, she wasn't sad, but instead
She was glad she'd watched her father die
