Fall Lies

Summer disappeared today,
I hope you don't forget those hot days,
And cold nights.

Fall arrived today,
It told us all that leaves will fall,
And showed us that nothing will last forever.

But can't we paint the leaves back on?
Oh, please, can't we?

We can paint them green..
Or maybe even red.
But what will the green resemble?
What will it mean?
The tree will be new..
It'll be rebuilt,
For homes,
And shade..
Yeah, that's what they mean.

And what would red mean?
Maybe once the green and bark mixed..
The leaves would turn red?
So we wouldn't even have to try..
But that would be passion.
Too bad that the flowers wouldn't agree.
Yeah, too bad.

Too bad the tree didn't last forever..
But we fed it water..
And gave it sunlight.

But then Fall came..
And made everything foggy,
With mist and lies.

But I get it now,
Flowers are much prettier than bland, old trees.
Yeah, I get it now.
