The Depth of My Grief

Merciful sanctuary for the ages,
it is by the dawn of tomorrow
that which follows your demise;
testing the waters of my sorrow.
Spilling distress in your absence,
one half of my life, no longer here.
The measure of everlasting love
is taken from my longest tear.

I fear not in my weakest hour,
for you remain in my heart.
The quest for a response so long,
as to why you did so depart.
Your gift to me, a gift of caring,
a suit of hope my heart is wearing.
