What If?

And if we lived in a world of illusions..
Would you still love me?
Or would you be an illusion as well..
And just walk on by?

And if our hearts were made of plastic,
Would yours still burn for me?
Even if later on it would melt,
And ruin your health?

And what if the clouds were only cotton balls..
And not the marsh mellows that we'd love to believe.
Would it matter less,
When I pointed them out to you?

And if when you held me underneath the stars..
And we found out that those stars were only paper,
Would you still hold me?
Or would you fake a smile,
And just laugh it off?

What if everything I never meant,
Was just an illusion?

What if every kiss I gave you,
Was made of plastic,
And worthless at ever corner?

What if I didn't believe in the clouds,
And in the rain that we'd dance in?

And what if the rain ruined the paper stars?
Yeah, the stars would crumple,
Like all paper does.

But what if we crumpled?
Along with that long night on the phone?
Would you still love me?
Or would you just hang up?
