So with sweet nothings in her ear,
And with a touch of the hand..
She gave her heart away,
One more time.

'But I need it to live,'
She cried..
'But, sweetheart..
I need an ego.'
He whispered,
As he stole her heart once more.

In his hands,
It beats so slow..
Hesitate,
It doesn't want to be ripped to pieces.
'Please, not again..'
It would beat.

He left her standing,
In the pouring rain.

A kiss is what she wanted..
And love is what she needed.

But he couldn't give that to her,
No, he wanted to kiss other girls..
He needed to love himself, first.

And so her heart would beat,
Balancing in his hands,
Thumping itself to sleep,
When he would tighten his grip..
When another vessel would snap.

'I think I might squeeze harder, now..
I think I may break you, finally.'

Her heart thumped harder,
And hoped to be dropped.

'Here's another broken vessel..'
'But I need it to live..'
'But I need my ego, still.'

The Doctor examined,
And tried to bring it back to a beat.

'But what a cliche..'
The Doctor whispered to his aid..
'What a love story...'
