The Day Innocence Died

Like a thousand needles,
You pierce me with your very stare—
You’re under my skin,
You’re breaking me down,
And I’ve had more than enough of this.
Tell me you didn’t mean a single thing you said—
Give me something, anything to believe in.
My blood runs cold—
I’m sure I’ll thank you for this in the end,
And slowly my desire fades away—
Could it be that all of this was nothing but a lie?
As you smile so innocently.
But your perfection will feel empty when you’re bleeding on the ground.
And still you don’t believe.
These eyes have seen more than you know.
I know exactly how you feel,
And I’m here to tell you that I can’t care anymore.
You’re just another face in another crowd.
Make no mistake—you’re nothing more.
