Goodbye, Goodnight

Won't you tell a joke
Just like the ones you've used before
A story of a man who never succeeds with his plans
And if I do not listen will you stare into my eyes
And whisper words I'd rather hear
Please tell me there's no need to fear
Will you hold me tight and never let me go?

It's time like right now that I realize
That times like right now have to pass by
Eventually, the word I dread
I'll hope to remember every word that you said

Let's make our story one with the last page torn out of the book
A mystery ending with no places left to look

Won't you tell a bedtime tale
Just like the ones I've tried to tell you before
A story of a bird that sadly cannot fly
But values life and no longer wants to die
Then whisper words I would prefer
Tell me love is a disease and there is no cure
Will you hold me tight and never let me go?

It's a tragedy that might be paying debt
A toll in the form of every night we slept

So let's close our eyes and say goodnight
And fall asleep together
We'll say goodnight, but never say goodbye
We'll say goodnight, but never say goodbye
