It Rained Today

It rained today,
Just after the church bells rang
So solemnly;
And I wandered
Through the silence
That echoed in my mind.
How could people be so happy
Drenched in blood?

It rained today,
Just after the church bells rang
So solemnly,
But the girl seemed
Not to hear
She jumped with glee
In the puddles of rain, puddles
Drenched in blood.

It rained today,
Just after the church bells rang
So solemnly.
Someone remarked
How people could
Be so happy
When the sky was crying; he was
Drenched in blood.

It rained today,
Just after the church bells rang
So solemnly;
Three times it rang
Once for the girl,
Twice for the man,
Three times for the people
Drenched in blood.

Because the rain today,
It wasn’t tears.
It was blood.
Falling from the clouds;
Little pieces
Of the white fluffiness
Falling from heaven,
Drenched in blood.
