Never Been to New York

Why did I lie to you?
It’s so much better to tell the truth
About things that I didn’t do
If you don’t know what this is about
I’ll give you one guess, but I doubt that you’ll be right
Because you believed me that night, yeah you believed me

I’ve never been to new york
Never was across from central park
I never seen that old man
It’s things I wish I could have done
To set me apart from everyone
Now I’m just a nobody in a crowd
Trying to hang on to what I have

I didn’t think things would be this way
I never thought I’d hear you say you wanted to be with me
Now I’m stuck here in between, what is reality and what’s a dream
I wanted you to know a long time ago

I’ve never been to the subway stations
Never traveled across the nation
I never rode in the back of the van
It’s things I wish I could have done
To set me apart from everyone
Now I’m just a nobody in a crowd
Trying to hang on to what I have

I didn’t think things would be this way
I never thought I’d hear you say you wanted to be with me
Now I’m stuck here in between, what is reality and what’s a dream
I wanted you to know a long time ago

I’ve never been to new york
Never was across from central park
I never seen that old man
It’s things I wish I could have done
To set me apart from everyone
Now I’m just a nobody in a crowd
Trying to hang on to what I have
And I want you
But it’s gonna be hard for me
To get what I can’t see, but I want you
