It came that solemn night
When I was forced to say good night
And freeze the moments last that we would spend
The moon blinked twice in its’ advice that me behind
Meant nothing bad
But with you far it meant that I’m alone.
I scold the summer nights I’ll spend at home
Trying fierce to warm the silken sheets
You absence will leave cold
I’ll bathe in lonely water till it cleanses off your scent
And strips my skin of dust that was your flesh when we were one
I beg of you to leave me somewhere safe.
If not high up on your love
Then beneath a weeping willow
Where we can cry together for my loss.
I’ll sleep within the branches
And peer out at the passers by
Hiding from believing that you’re gone.
But when the clock hits middle day, and slumber’s
Cleared my head
Awakened will my beauty be in time to find your replacement
There lives no one by your design
But he will do just fine in satisfying every will
To fill the void by our divide.
To you I say goodbye and night
Take flight leave me to cry
As by the song and lyrics say, my heart will heal in time.
