Crystal Allegory

Standing under the midnight sky,
The world has never looked so cold.
A moonless night has never felt so cruel.
A sad story better left untold,
With an even worse ending.
Desires harbor many false ties;
The one you thought you could trust
Is always the one who lies.
The shattered glass on pavement,
Beneath the ebony sky
Is as lucid as a broken heart;
A perfect, crystal allegory to a broken heart.
Misery is no stranger
In a land as black and cold as night.
“Carry on!” a cry of thirsty crows.
It’s a desperate, losing struggle I still insist to fight.
