In a world of no Exodus
Hidden secrets lie beneath the sugary sweet dirt
Secrets from centuries ago
Buried alive and assumed dead
Tortured forevermore in sacred penitentiaries
The secrets are right in front of our eyes
Yet we're too blind to see them
It is our own demise that will force the truth to surface
When that day comes we can't help but to wonder
Whatever happened to the happiness and joy of our youth?
As children we would laugh and play all day
Not seeing what was right in front of us
From the time that we would first crawl to when we took our first steps
Our parents faked a smile
When times were at their worst, they never told us
All because we were their baby and their instinct made them protect us
Once upon a time we were all rebellious teens
Being introduced to the truth for the first time
Realizing that we really aren't the queen of the world
And the world doesn't revolve around us
Suddenly the parchment of our life is unfurled
The book of truth clearly states what we cannot see
We're blindfolded and can't find what we seek
Like a moth to flame we're attracted to mystery
But when what we seek causes us harm
We really wish we would have acted differently
Within everything good there is a morbid truth we can't bear to see
As children we were protected from it
As young adults we were introduced to it
And as adults we feel it's full power, however unexpected it may be
Life just isn't fair at this point, is it?
We miss the cotton candy clouds,
The fairy tales at night,
The kiss that is naivete and love,
Our old play things
And the purity of our childhood selves
As we wish we were children looking for the right crayon
Our lives are just not that simple
Though we prefer the innocence of back then
We cannot go back
We're stuck in the present along with every other human being
