Safe: With You

Watching leaves fall to the ground,
Plummeting down into the dirt.
Accumulating on the ground,
Overtaking everything.
There is no escape.

There is no better place to be,
But, right here with you in my arms
Looking out through the glass
Into that troubled world.
With you in my arms,
We protect each other
From what’s outside.
But, I am safe here,
With you.

Walking out into this troubled world
I grip my jacket close,
Hoping it will protect me
From these wars and hate crimes.
Plowing through this clouded world,
I find my escape inside.
Away from the hateful words,
Sex, Drugs
And governments.
I find my way into your arms.
Here with you I am safe.

The last leaf falls to the ground,
They die and fall into the Earth.
Still we stare out into the hateful world
Holding each other close,
For that’s all we have,
In this so-called peaceful world.
Tiny scraps of love.
In this hateful world.

-Justin Goehring

(Poets Note) I really don't know if I like this one or not. I certainly
cannot write as I used to, but, it's all that's comming!
