Another tainted tale for the children to be told
One for them to tell when they grow old
Speak of the knights and how they were bold
Creatures that could make your red blood run cold
Dragons and fairies and monsters with scales
Can not out-frighten this original tale
Witches and goblins and dwarves with chipped nails
Unlike this, will not make your cream skin go pale
Now listen to my blistering words
Stringed into a song much like a bird’s
Beatings from fathers and yellings from mothers
Late nights in closets or under the covers
Stalkers and rapists behind each dark street
Following your breath and the sound of your feet
Bad cops and terrorists tearing up lives
Razors, protractors and kitchen knives
Disease and misfortune with a pinch of hate
To mock and to tease, and to manipulate
Gamblers and drinkers sipping on slots
Smokers and injectors, pumping in pot
Babies are wailing and prison bars breaking
Crime misinterpreted, now overtaking
Soldiers with guns, and large armed tanks
Charities ignored, but money in the banks
Sinked ships, potato chips and suicidal teens
Bad words and racists, fights over green
Fears and worries to disorders gone wrong
Lost friends and mistrust, like emotional ping pong
Blank faces stare brightly into my eyes
It’ll take some time to realize
That this tale is not myth nor is it legend
With fun filled summers and pretty prom pageants
Life as we know it is a story to tell
A book I would by the moment it sells
Scream-worthy words that could give you hives
Are the only ones to describe all our lives…
