The Allure of Decay

You stare at me
With black
And dull expressions
On your face,
As if there is opium
In my eyes,
And you have been
Drugged by it.
Your mouth hangs
Open like a fish's own.
Or have the deceptive
Sirens stolen your
Voice so that you
Can only stare
Dumbly at me.

Your words fall
Deaf to my ears.
The sound of guilt
Plays like a bandit
In your tone,
Come to steal my joy.

Have you done
An unforgivable crime?
Your tears are acid
That fall onto my skin,
Threatening to burn
Me away in waves
Of blood and flesh.

You point an accusing
Finger at me,
But the lies
Built up around you
Break when you
Would speak the truth.
