I was taught that love's a burden
That was all I knew
But of course that all changed
When I met you
Because we were in love
I wasn't confused
Now it was a blessing
And I owed it all to you
But then something happened
It burdened again
You struck a chord with those words
"Let's just be friends"
But the love never died
At least not with me
I always tried to fix myself
Be what you wanted me to be
I tried to impress you
Look as nice as I could
But why even bother?
I'll never be quite good
But it's okay now
I'm done with you
I'd rathre be with someone else
I found someone new
Yeah, I one upped you
Hope that's okay
I wish you best of luck
On your future days
This newbie's going smoothly
We're doing just fine
It's been over two months
And I still call her mine
For a while it was so hard
I kept holding on
But now I know that you're gone
And I'm moving on
