Here we are
To fix these lives we have so messed up
To stop putting the blame
On this liquid that suppresses our pain
So I want you to all pray right now
Even if you don’t believe in God
Believe in the ‘us’ of this.
Some of us are old
And some of us are young
But the stories are always similar
We all start when we’re in high school
And we all party and try to be the adults we could never turn into
And here we reminisce and look back
At this life we’ve distorted by this anomaly
Here we are
Trying to remember where we went wrong
In a party, school bathroom, or the backseat of a car
And this journey has become the heart of our song
You don’t understand if you aren’t a victim
I guess we know if that is the case
Because we are the victims of our own actions
Bring a coffee
Bring your alcoholic friend
But only if they want to give it up
You can’t make someone give it; they’ll do it themselves in the end
Just keep an open mind
And find something you know you can believe in
Here we are
Trying to make up for when we went wrong
To stop the drunk driving in our cars
And now I’ve just got to right this song
You don’t know
What it’s like to give up something we’ve depended on for so long
We are the victims of our own actions
Stop these liver incisions
Stop hugging the toilet every morning
Stop the horrible decisions
It’s time to stop these thing’s we’re doing
Here we are…
