Island

Suddenly, I’m washed up on this island
So lost, but I’ve been here before
And way the sand scratches me
Only makes me remember it more
The feeling of never getting back
Fails to plague my mind
Because something about this island
Gives me a warm feeling inside
That’s when I get worried
When I, look around
I find the same thing that I
Had once before found
It’s you, you are this island
So isolated, so alone
Sucked into it, here I am
In you, I call you home
The trees, the birds, the grass
The sunken ship without a mast
Attacking me with the fact
That there really was the past
I don’t know how you made this place
But I need not ask
To escape you is unthinkable
No wishes to go back
Burn every ship that approaches
Every plank that drifts our way
I’ll stay here on your island
Until my dieing day
So don’t bother to come and get me
My heart and soul are buried here
To pry me from this heaven
Would only bring me tears
On this island I will stand tall
Passing all life’s tests
On this island I will not fall
Until morning has it’s rest
