Thrown off by the world around me
Lack of kindness fills the air
I can smell the devastation
In need of tender loving care
People ask me how the optimism
Found it’s way into my core
I tell them that just maybe
I was nice enough to open the door
People ask me why I’m so caring
Well, needless to say
How can you not care
When you love some one that way?
People ask me how I know things
I tell them how can you not see
The sadness in her eyes
When her tears have created a stream?
People ask me how I smile back
Well what is there left to do
When life has graciously wrapped
A wonderful road around you
Can you tell me, why the grass is green?
The same reason that the sky is blue
Can you tell me, why are we here?
Where else would you go to?
Can you tell me, do you believe in god?
That is not of your business
Can you tell me, what’s the point?
If I did, it would be pointless
Ask me questions that are better not knowing
Questions that don’t include ‘no’ or ‘yes’
The ones that I cannot answer
Are ones that should be left to rest
I’ve seen better days but that doesn’t mean
That I’m going to wear a frown
Priorities may or may not drop
But they will never bring me down
So don’t ask me if I believe in things
If I believe in the big man in the skies
Because all I can ever tell you
Is that I’m just watching through angel eyes
