For these two, the bells chime
In sorrow and lack of harmony
For these two, both their lives
Are filled with tragedy, melancholy
The stars in the night sky are the only ones
Who viewed what went on
The affair between two, unknown
From the darkness of midnight to dawn
The eyes of gypsies watched so closely
One man fleeing, so hidden
His shadow and movement, ghostly
To his one true love, forbidden
Under a willow tree
Walls made of weeping leaves
The two met gleefully
Finally, there’s no need to grieve
Each night lead to another
Until one soldier did stare
At the mischief surrounding
The eyes, unaware
This soldier did tattle
After all, ‘twas his job
But he did not know
Whom he was tattling of
The prince denied every accusation
But the proof, no doubt, made the proclamation
To be beheaded for fraternizing
With a servant from the rivals castle
They asked why he risk it, analyzing
But he said it was worth the hassle
‘But Mama, I love him’
‘But Mama, I need him’
Baby don’t talk back
It’s you he’s misleadin’
Both crying for justice
But the menu says none is served
Yet still these love stuck kids
Say that it was well worth
The large blade falls down
The soldiers knock on the girls door
Both welcome what they found
They needn’t ask for anymore
Deaths are served, ‘tis when they part
Smiles lay on each face
Through life’s trail, their hearts
Contain memories, un-erased
When it’s too dark to see
Their smiles light up the sky
Expressions, so happy
They watch over with starlit eyes
