My Worst Fear

She nervously rose from her chair at the sound of her name
Her worst fear was to disclaim
She hated being in the public eye
Why was she forced to comply?
Her heart was smacking her ribs violently
But she has to suffer silently
She takes her spot at the front of the room
feeling nothing but doom
As she began to read, she felt so small
What is she started to bawl?
She reads her poem in a rush,
knowing her face is flushed
She walks back to her seat,
feeling nothing but defeat
