Lullaby

Drawn into a restless sleep
Plague filled my helpless eyes
Pulled into a hole too deep
Haunted by your lullabies

Perched upon my aching shoulder
Sat the bird of death’s dear dread
His claws digging deeper into my skin
Until my soft flesh bled

Silhouettes of my memories
Stay hidden inside my sketch book
When the rain falls heavy enough
Perhaps I’ll let you take a look

Delicately sewn is my life
A tapestry with immortal threads
Hung upon the dustiest wall
Until my smile is dead

Digging until the dirt is ash
Wondering where my weakness lies
Breathing guesses that are rash
Don’t you know it’s your lullabies?
