Lie for the Camera

Let's take a few photographs;
The priceless moments of our lives.
We'll blacken our pupils even more,
Blocking out this twilight.

We'll finally understand the steps
To dancing underneath the moonlight;
The shine isn't so distracting anymore..
Our palms can finally fit.

And if this blinding flash takes you,
Then I hope it takes me too..
Marking this photograph with a scratch;
He never mattered anyway.

Oh, the sun has set
And we can blink these tears away,
Leaving the camera to dry them,
Leaving the camera to flutter just one more time.

So smile so big, my love...
And laugh so wonderful, my darling,
Because the negatives are smudged now
And I promise to smile
Even when she's blocking out my view.
