How can I start to describe us to people
We are not just friends, nor are we dating
And I get odd looks when I try to put us into words

But we say we love each other everyday
Even though in reality we really are

I’ve only ever loved two people

I was cheating on him with you…

Because you also helped me cheat
We know we both have a loyalty issue
But when you look at it closely
You’ll see that I was always truly with you

But when I was single, we did nothing
And then that awkward question was said
Because someone had asked me out
So I asked you and you said,
Baby, go ahead
Although I know you were torn up inside
I couldn’t stand to watch you in pain
The way you slowly backed away
Was driving me insane
My boyfriends always hated you
They could always sense you were too close
The way I’d ditch them to go to the movies
With you, made them dislike you most

Because those guys were only decoys
They never helped me through black and blue
And when you look at it closely
You’ll see that I was always truly with you

My parents never trust me alone with boys
But to them, you’re an exception
When in reality, you’re more dangerous
And I know you love that deception
I want to be with you so badly it hurts
But that is the only thing you’re shy to me about
You think if you said you’re in love with me,
You’d be rejected,
But I would not just say it back, but shout
We’re so afraid of losing each other
We live in fear of the thought itself
But I promise I will never leave you
Not in sickness nor in health

Because I love you more than anything
You blush because you know it’s true
And when you look at it closely
You’ll see that I was always truly with you
