The battle’s over but the guns stay loaded
Once open arms now stay folded
I’m standing in the middle of no man’s land
Each side taking my struggling hand
One leads me to heaven, one leads me to hell
But which is which I cannot tell
Just please stop pointing your guns at my face
Why let this fire stay ablaze?
I never knew love was such a battlefield
A heart as my weapon of choice to wield
But I can’t see through each forces lies
And in this war I have no allies
Why won’t you just back down
Before you hear me hit the ground
Viewing my muddy boots and river tears
With my simple frown and dirty smears
Have you had enough or is there anymore?
Slicing my chest to reach my hearts core
But the sun is rising and I’m left battered
A pulse still there, but my life is shattered
Just because I’m breathing doesn’t mean I’m there
Tear off my uniform until I’m left bare
Sweet love has scarred me yet you shoot regardless
Trapped in a prison, that is yet so barless
And I have people waiting for me back home
All they’ll get is an apology on the phone
“Sorry, but she’s dead, lost her heart and her head
She bled and then she cried, and after that she just died”
This war has killed me in the attacks that were made
I guess I won’t be in the victory parade
