Insides burning,
Temperature rising,
Can’t stand the heat,
I am on fire.

People talking,
Incessant buzzing,
Mindless droning,
Jack-hammers in my head.

Soul is trembling,
Limbs are quivering,
Body shaking,
My whole is an earthquake.

In the open,
No place to hide,
Wide open spaces,
I am vulnerable.

Sky is black,
No sign of light,
I can not see,
I’m afraid.

Where is my shelter,
Where is my guide,
Where do I go?
What do I do?

I sit here and wait.
Wait for my pain to subside.
Wait for my suffering to dissolve.
I sit and I wait.
