Tears are black ink that stain
your heart; so dark and deep.
Misery; solitude seeping
into your slowing veins. Breathing
shallow, lungs collapsing.
Close your eyes tonight;
dream your angst
away and follow
a path split in two; your future
unpredictable against the rigid cement
beneath you crawling
against your shoes covered
in dirt from six feet under.
And they wonder
why you left their sight
in the midst of forgiveness, that
you were incapable
of knowing truth and separating
reality from fantasies
experienced so vividly.
Mistaken when you awake
and forgotten when you sleep.
So remember the lost time
thrown away; don't lose
yourself in the end of it all.
