hoping for some sleep tonight
for dreams to rest upon my eyes
dreams of carefree holidays
and dark and starry skies

restful sleep that satisfies
my tired desire to close my eyes
to take away my weariness
so rest eludes me no more,
even just an hour of bliss
will take away this sore

blinking does not take away
the burning in my eyes
if only I could get some sleep
I'd dream of starry skies
