Remember (The Eulogy)

A once emotionless face
Masked in white
Bland and blind
Vague and curious
Of the paths I slowly retreat.

I see my shadow once again
As the sun rises
To a noon stance,
I remember the footsteps in the sand
Of my once drowning desert.

I see this despair
And hatred flowing like wine
And trembling like snow.
I never imagined
Self-indulgence could be so peaceful
So... cumulative.

I feel the sand falling
Between my fingers
And fading along the wind.

One day
I will dig far enough
To a glorious well of love.
Until then
I will wander in my past
And bask in my glow.
