Hollowed Remains

A mortal wound,
a fatal mistake
Panic overwhelms all sense
Regret and sorrow become friends
Voices whisper of secrets unheard
Lord Death and Lady Fate take away
mindless, brainless, heartless
as Darkness takes over
Chaos fills the void
Eyes of innocence now haunted;
forever without a soul
Trapped by despair
always growing; encasing; feeding
merely a sliver of light
in a world of shadows
A heart that used to beat
now sits dormant
The glow of morning gone; extinct
banished to a cold, unforgiving place
where not even the echoes reach
Hatred knows no bounds
wrapping around love
a double-edged sword buried
burning; twisting; searing
yearning to turn down the screams
becoming a ghost in the sands of time
