Bitter Days

Still reeling from childhoods of discontent
We drank away our youth

Now solemnly basking in life’s remains
Are these crystal midnights just the calm before the storm
or have we finally broken these numbing chains

I have long awaited realities bitter sting
Something only time can bring

Too many fears of self-doubt turned into years of self-loathing
Just now knowing you were the wolf in sheep’s clothing

It was always you...
Your hands covering my eyes so I could not see

Now coming to gripes with this...
You are the vicious cycle in me
