Pricetags On My Past

I'll sell a happy memory for a nickel,
I'll sell a dream for a dime,
maybe they'll bring you better luck,
all they do is crowd my mind.
I'll sell a nightmare for a penny,
all you have to do is ask.
A day dream for a quarter,
they're the price tags on my past.
The tears are each a dollar,
because of what they put me through,
I don't want the broken heart,
so I'll sell it cheap to you.
A nickel for remembered kisses,
They're buy one get one free.
I'll sell it all and I'll start over.
With just plain old me.
Love stories cost ten dollars,
happy endings don't exist,
if I had a quarter for every sad one,
there's no question that I'd be rich.
The sunset over the ocean
might cost a couple bucks,
one or two at the most,
I don't think I'll miss it much.
The father-daughter memories
are few and far between
they may look nice and happy,
but not everything is what it seems.
Come back as often as you want,
all I ask is you pay cash,
worries are free to all,
These are the price tags on my past.
