"Trapped In This Cage Of Sunlight"

My lungs are breathing
But my heart is fleeting
The wheels on this old car turn and turn
Driving away from the things i learned
In this faithless town
Away from the things that kept me bound
To the empty feeling of hopelessness
That still stabs at my chest
And it reminds me of the way it felt to be in love
Up all night dreaming of life and tryin to rise above
The way the world beats you down and leaves you cold
Theres has to be a way to break its hold
A way to move passed the memory of the stone face of your lover
When she left under the cover
Of that restless summer night
A way to make the clock unwind
We're all in the same fight
Trapped in this cage of sunlight
So when you look me in the eye
Don't lie, don't lie
Don't lie, don't lie
It just wouldn't be right
Last night i couldn't sleep
This secret that i keep
Is tearing at my veins
Such a stupid way to escape the pain
But as long as its safe here
I wont have to fear
How people judge the things that I've done
And i can just patiently wait for the sun
Staring at the flames
Of my wasted life, and drown in shame
And slowly slip away
And slowly fade into the gray
We're all in the same fight
Trapped in this cage of sunlight
So when you look me in the eye
Don't lie, don't lie
Don't lie, don't lie
It just wouldn't be right
