This Little Girl

Volunteering at a daycare
There are so many freaking kids there
Quite frankly it’s become a hobby
Some of the kids even call me mommy
But there’s this one who just holds my hand
This small girl expects me to understand
(But I don’t)

She sits in the corner all alone
And lately this place has become her home
I’m wondering why she silently cries
I can hear her every time that she sighs
I ask the advisor what is wrong
And she tells me that I left the stove on
(But I didn’t)

Her mother comes and I ask what’s up
And the mother turns her head quite abrupt
The answer out did my fears
It had almost brought me down in tears
Here I thought this girl was just sad
When this little girl, she lost her dad
