Down This Road

I've been down this road before,
I already know my way,
Don't worry about me, I'll be fine,
I hope to make it out someday.
I'm just retracing the footsteps
I was forced to walk before.
But now I'm down and out
and I'm walking them once more.
I remember this road,
there's a lot I can recall,
it's almost become home
and I don't like it at all.
Once upon a time, life was better,
I wasn't walking on this road.
I quickly fell from glory,
Now I bare this heavy load.
I'm becoming tired and weary
from this long, extensive walk,
my broken heart is heavy,
but who really is at fault?
I don't know how much more
of all this I can take.
Soon I'll come to the fork in the road,
and a new decision, I'll make.
Then, once again, I'll go the route
I can't seem to avoid.
The stamp of love across my heart
Now is flashing "void".
I've been down this road before
I already know my way,
I walk these steps once more,
and I will until I'm okay.
