Winning Through The Tears

the sun was bright but her smile was brighter
this was her day to start the fire
a perfect game, a perfect day
but somehow her heart would get broken today

a nervous wait in a room filled with friends
and then it's the time when the waiting all ends
she's called into the room to have a short talk
when it's time to get up she forgets how to walk

a thousand lines all screamed out in her head
but she controlled herself and calmly said
"good luck to you" and left the room
dreading the tears that would come out soon

she cried in her room, ashamed of the day
and no one could find the right words to say
she was told it was wrong, the decision was bad
but that didn't help her, it just left her sad

she thought she'd give up trying and forget about it all
she never thought she'd get back up, from this painful fall
somehow she moved on, and pulled herself together
although this memory inside her head, will stay with her forever

she didn't crash and burn she didn't give up trying
she never gave up on her dream but was not ashamed of crying
although it hurt so much inside and quitting would be easy too
she kept on going on, 'cause that's what winners truly do.
