The stars won't shine,
My life won't glow,
I know that someday,
I will stand in a row.

I will be like the others,
And yet, different, but the same,
I won't stand from the crowds,
And no one will call my name.

My brethren and sisters will do nothing but nod,
No comforting words,
No smiles of fraud.

Neither hug,
Nor caress,
Will soften the heart,
Within this chest.

So cold I have become,
With such monotonous around me,
So cruel I am now,
From the fakeness that surrounds thee.

When will they see? That I am not a part of them?
That we may look as one, but I am different?
That I am ME and not WE?

I am articulate,
Not unworthy and brash.
I am an entity,
Not an illusion of sameness.

I am extraordinary and divine,
I am the Northern Star in the sky,
I am not just one in a million,
And I will shine.

I am me,
And I will see to the end,
That I separate myself from them,
And those who feel the same will come out,
And cry my name like a prayer to the Heavens.

Because I can,
And I will,
And you will find,
Exactly what’s in my state of mind.
