Cuts are fashionable lately,
but I prefer to be out of style.

They told me I’d soon
revolve around money.
I shook my head,
but much too vigorously
to be convincing.

Didn’t get to say goodbye
to George the doorman
before crashing into
an automatic door.

But enough about what’s-his-face,
I want to
Thank you for your time
before you forget my name because
life has become that impersonal.

One day I’d like to walk into a house
and not have to wonder if

the plants are fake.
