The Octet Rule

It’s science really...
It hit me other day,
How much we are like an equation;
Some toxic chemical.
This is chemistry,
As people like to put it.
We are all made up of the same six elements of life:
C, H2, N2, O2, P, and S...
The essentials for survival.
The necessities for our cells,
our atoms,
our sub atoms to exists.
But they forgot one element:
You.
The most powerful element of them all.
But only when combined with me.
You see...
It’s science really...
Opposites attract,
But only through the smallest of things.
We are both an element,
both unaware of how unhappy we are,
cause we are not complete without the other...
we need the right amount of electrons,
to complete our element.
We have the protons, and the neutrons,
But a few electrons short of perfection.
...Like nitrogen.
Seven protons; Seven neutrons.
...but only seven electrons.
We can only be happy if we become a Noble gas,
If we become one...
An atom with eight electrons...
The Octet Rule.
We need to find the right electrons...
from just the right Nitrogen atom.
Cause nothing else would do.
You see,
Nitrogen is different than most elements.
Helium is happy on it’s own,
Hydrogen is not... so it bonds to another,
With a single covalent;
A single bridge,
to slightly hold on to another.
Oxygen, is the same, but needs two bridges...
That double security, to know it is one.
But, you see...
We are so much stronger than all them.
Not a hydrogen bond will do,
Or a polar covalent,
Nor a single covalent,
Nor a double covalent...
For we are so much stronger together...
With a triple covalent.
Three bridges,
That connect to the core of us,
Making us whole, as one,
As a noble gas.
A noble gas so strong,
That only lightning can separate us,
Only at 600 degrees Celsius, can our bond break...
But I even doubt that is true...
Cause it’s different with us.
We really don’t have to follow the Octet rule.
Cause we are our own atom,
Our own little sub atom in this spec of a world,
called Earth...
in this spec of a galaxy...
floating in a universe filled with so many other particles.
But we are still the strongest,
Despite our size,
Cause we go beyond the Octet rule.
...It’s science really...
