Because I See You

What is between us

Doesn't fit into the neat little packages

I am so use to receiving

It scares me to my core

And yet I press on

Because I see you

You can hide behind the things you tell yourself

In your convincing eyes

You can hide there from others.

But not from me

Because I see you

Afraid to take off the mask

You think you can't live without

But know you can never truly live within

Go ahead, wear it

Because I see you

How can you be afraid to lose

What you don't possess

And is not mine to take away

It will endure on its own

Because I see you

A world exists

A place no one else can enter

Safe, warm and beautiful

It is ours alone

Because I see you

It has always been there

Across time and distance

And it still survives

Because I see you

You have given me every reason to go

And yet I am still here

Because I see you

You have given me every reason to stay

Because I see you
